The Tui Area Oil Fields lie within PMP 38158. Three separate oil accumulations have been developed - Tui, Amokura and Pateke.
The development comprises four horizontally drilled and subsea completed wells, each tied back to a leased Floating Production Storage and Offtake (FPSO) vessel, the "Umuroa". The extended horizontal production sections in the oil reservoirs range from 819m to 1850m.
The Tui Area Oil Project was developed at a cost of US$274m, with NZOG's share amounting to US$34m. The FPSO is the main operating cost.
In May 2008 an agreement was signed extending the charter of the Umuroa through to 2015, with one year rights of renewal until 2022.

AWE Announces Additinal Wells In Tui Area Development
Type: Operator Update
Feb. 2013 - AWE Limited, on behalf of the Tui Area Development partners, announced the joint venture approval of two wells to be drilled in the second half of 2013 in permit PMP 38158. Pateke-4H will be an infill development well targeting a mapped northern extension of the Pateke field. The well will be drilled to the proposed measured depth of 22,637 feet with an 8,202-foot horizontal section. It is possible that gross recovery could be increased by 2.3 million barrels. The Oi exploration well will target the Oi prospect which is structurally similar to the Tui, Amokura and Pateke fields. The reservoir is thought to hold prospective resources in the range of 11 million barrels. Firgstad Offshore's Kan Tan IV (mid-water semisub) has been contracted to drill both wells.

AWE Identifies Potential Prospects in Tui Area
Type: Status Update
May. 2012 - Pan Pacific Petroleum, a partner on the Tui field, reported that the joint venture has further progressed evaluation of the Tui Area upside and has identified two potential development infill opportunities and two prospects, which are currently being further matured to enable the JV to decide on possible drilling plans. Subject to approval and rig availability, drilling is planned for 4Q 2012 - 1Q 2013.

AWE Updates Ops at Tui
Type: Status Update
Jan. 2012 - AWE reported that operational performance on the Tui oil field has performed well with production in line with budget forecasts. Furthermore, in early January 2012, a subsea project was undertaken to complete minor repair and maintenance work on various wellhead components on the producing wells. The field averaged daily gross production of about 5,600 bopd. Tui is located offshore New Zealand in 394 feet (120 meters) of water.

Production Recommences at Pateke-3H Well
Type: Status Update
Oct. 2010 - Production from the Pateke-3H well recommenced during the weekend. The well is currently flowing at a rate of 4,000 bopd, but it's expected to settle down to about 3,000 bopd. The Tui field is now flowing oil from all four wells. The Pateke well is part of the Tui project, which is situated in the offshore Taranaki Basin in PEP 38158. Interest holders in the project are AWE, serving as the operator and holding a 42.5% interest; Mitsui E&P Australia Pty Limited holding a 35% interest; New Zealand Oil & Gas Limited holding a 12.5%; and Pan Pacific Petroleum holding the remaining 10% interest.

Production Halted at Pateke-3H Well
Type: Status Update
Oct. 2010 - Production was halted from the Pateke-3H well due to additional technical issues within the flow path. Prior to the Kan Tan IV rig being released from the site, a clean up flow of the well was performed and the repairs were successfully completed. However, additional constraints within the production flowpath is preventing full oil production to flow from the well. AWE is reviewing the issue to determine the cause of the problem. Production is estimated to flow at a rate of 3,000 bopd once the well is fully cleaned.

AWE Restarts Pateke-3H well
Type: Status Update
Oct. 2010 - Oil production has resumed from the Pateke-3H well after a successful workover operation was performed and completed by the Kan Tan IV semisub. The Pateke-3H well suffered from problems with the artificial lift system, forcing the well to close in June. The restart of the Pateke-3H well is expected to increase Tui's oil production rate, which has been flowing at an average rate of 7,000 bopd. The Tui oil field is situated in the offshore Taranaki Basin in PEP 38158.

Production from Tui Reaches 28MM Barrels
Type: Status Update
Jul. 2010 - AWE Limited reported that production from the Tui area oil fields for the financial year ending on June 30, 2010, was 4.83 million barrels, and total production since July 2007, has now reached 28.2 million barrels. The Tui area consists of four producing wells, Tui-2H, Tui-3H, Amokura-2H and Pateke-3H. A work over program is currently underway on the Pateke-3H well to recommence production from this well in the fourth quarter of 2010. AWE plans to utilize the Kan Tan IV drilling rig to perform the operations. The Tui area oil project consists of three fields, Tui, Amokura and Pateke, connected to the Umuroa FPSO, situated in the offshore Taranaki Basin in PEP 38158.

Tui Pumps 25 Million Barrels of Oil, Appraisal Drilling to Commence in 2010
Type: Status Update
Dec. 2009 - The Tui oil field reached the 25 million barrel mark, flowing at an average rate of 15,359 bopd in 3Q '09, reported AWE. The operator also announced that existing 3D seismic of the area was reprocessed and the improved data will be used to confirm upcoming drilling locations; two appraisal wells are to be drilled in the Tui area by the Kan Tan IV semisub in 2010. If a commercial discovery is made, the wells could be tied-back to the Umuroa FPSO and brought online within 12 to 18 months. The AWE-operated Tui oil field is situated on PMP 38158 offshore Taranaki Basin, New Zealand.
