Project Description
Cobra (Lease OCS-G31199) lies roughly 132 miles (212 kilometers) from the nearest Texas shoreline on Alaminos Canyon Block 810 in 7,684 feet (2,342 meters) of water. Statoil serves as the operator of Cobra and holds a 90% interest; CNOOC holds the remaining 10% interest.

An IEP submitted on March 20, 2009 to MMS proposes to drill and temporarily abandon three well locations, C, H and I, as well as install subsea wellheads and manifolds on the Cobra prospect. Each well will require roughly 100 days to drill and drilling should end around March 31, 2010.

Statoil spud the well in August 2011 using the Maersk Developer. The well targeted oil.
