Project Description
The Jodari prospect is located in Block 1 offshore Tanzania in a water depth of 3,789 feet (1,155 meters). BG Group operates the block with a 60 percent stake; while Ophir holds the remaining interest.

Drilling operations commenced on the well on Jan. 11, 2012, using the Deepsea Metro 1 (UDW drillship). The well had a targeted depth of 15,092 feet (4,600 meters).

The Jodari prospect contains multiple stacked targets in both the Tertiary and Cretaceous sections with the former having seismic flat spot and amplitude fit to structure. Jodari is modeled to contain mean resources of 2.2 Tcf in the stacked targets.

A discovery was made in Jodari-1, indicating gross recoverable resources are in the rage of 2.5 to 4.4 Tcf of gas.

BG/Ophir Complete Jodari-1 DST
Type: Appraisal Operations

Mar. 2013 - BG and Ophir announced the successful completion of the Jodari-1 Drill Stem Test (DST) in Block 1 off the coast of Tanzania. The DST was the first production test to be conducted in Tanzanian waters. A maximum rate of 70 MMscf/d was achieved but was restricted by surface equipment limitations. Results from the test indicate a potential flow rate of 200 MMscf/d through production equipment. Jodari-1 was drilled by the Deepsea Metro I (UDW drillship) to a depth of 14,271 feet. BG operates Block 1 with a 60% interest with Ophir holding the remaining 40%.

Ophir Updates Jodari and Mzia Ops
Type: Appraisal Operations

Dec. 2012 - A recent three well appraisal drilling program undertaken by BG Group and Ophir Energy on the Jodari field off Tanzania successfully achieved its objectives. The wells proved high quality reservoir across the field and reconfirmed the 3.4 Tcf mean recoverable resource estimate. In addition, the joint venture was able verify that high-angle drilling within Jodari may be a viable option to reduce development costs. Drilling was carried out by the Deepsea Metro I (UDW drillship) which is currently drilling the Mzia-2 appraisal well. Upon completion of the Mzia appraisal, the rig will return to Jodari to perform a drill stem test and then move on to continue exploratory drilling in Block 1.

BG Group Makes Fourth Gas Discovery in Tanzania
Type: New Discovery

Mar. 2012 - BG Group hits gas pay again, offshore Tanzania, making this the fourth discovery in the area. Preliminary evaluation of well results indicate gross recoverable resources are in the range of 2.5 to 4.4 Tcf of gas. The discovery was made in Jodari-1, which is situated in a water depth of 3,770 feet (1,150 meters). The well is part of the current three-to-four well exploration program, which also includes the acquisition of 965 square miles (2,500 square kilometers) of 3D seismic data in Block 1. BG Group will now target the Mzia-1 location in Block 1, about 14 miles (23 kilometers) to the north of Jodari-1.

BG Group, Ophir Commence Drilling Program Offshore Tanzania
Type: Drilling Operations

Jan. 2012 - BG Group has commenced exploratory drilling in Block 1 offshore Tanzania using the Deepsea Metro-1 (UDW drillship). The first three wells in the program will be Jodari-1, Mzia-1 and Papa-1. The operator will drill the Mzia-1 top hole section first, as part of a batch drilling program, then the rig will move to drill Jodari-1 in its entirety, before returning to Mzia-1 to complete the bottom portion of the well. Ophir spudded the Mzia-1 well in 4,921 feet (1,500 meters) of water on Jan. 1, 2012, which should take seven to 10 days. The operator will then spud the Jodari-1 well in a water depth of 3,789 feet (1,155 meters) and drill to total depth of 15,092 feet (4,600 meters) in 40 days. The Jodari prospect contains multiple stacked targets in both the Tertiary and Cretaceous sections with the former having seismic flat spot and amplitude fit to structure. Jodari is modeled to contain mean resources of 2.2 Tcf in the stacked targets. BG Group operates the blocks with a 60 percent stake; while Ophir holds the remaining interest.

BG Group to Farm-In to Blocks Offshore Tanzania
Type: Acreage Acquisition

May. 2010 - BG Group received approval from the Government of the United Republic of Tanzania to farm into Blocks 1, 3 and 4 offshore southern Tanzania. Ophir solely owns the blocks. Upon completion of the agreements, BG Group will acquire 60% of Ophir's interests in each of the offshore blocks by contributing 85% toward costs, which include an initial work program. The blocks span more than 6 million acres (27,000 square kilometers) in the Mafia Deep offshore Basin and the northern portion of the Ruvuma Basin, which are situated in water depths ranging from 328 to 9,843 feet (100 to 3,000 meters).

Discovery (Drilled) - Mar 16, 2012 to Dec 2012

BG Group announced Monday a fourth Tanzanian gas discovery from the Jodari-1 exploration well located in Block 1 offshore southern Tanzania. Preliminary evaluation of the well results indicates gross recoverable resources are in the range of 2.5 to 4.4 trillion cubic feet (tcf) of gas.
