The appraisal wells on the Dagny structure confirmed this prospect and another, Ermintrude, have identical pressures and are located in the same structure.

The field has resources in the range of 35 MMcm/d, and the recoverable oil resources can be increased substantially assuming that gas injection is selected in the development solution, according to the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate.

Field Development

In June 2012, Statoil and partners have selected a fixed platform development concept for the Dagny oil and gas field, while the Eirin gas field is to be developed with a subsea solution.

Gas from Dagny will be exported through a tie-back to the infrastructure on Sleipner East, while offshore loading into shuttle tankers is proposed for the oil.

The seabed production installation on Eirin will be tied-back to the planned Dagny platform. The chosen solution for Dagny and Eirin will now be secured, with the award of FEED contracts.

Plans call for an investment decision to be taken in 2013, with production starting in 2016.

On March 8, 2013 the Norwegian Ministry of Petroleum and Energy announced the renaming of Dagny to Gina Krog. The date of the renaming was the 100 year anniversary of women's voting rights in Norway. Gina Krog was one of Norway's most influential champions of giving Norwegian women the right to vote.

Teekay Offshore to Supply Converted FSO to Gina Krog
Type: Development Activity

May. 2013 - Teekay Offshore has reached an agreement with Statoil to provide a floating storage and offloading (FSO) vessel for the Gina Krog oil and gas field in the Norwegian North Sea. The Randgrid, a 1995-built shuttle tanker will be converted to serve as the FSO. Once complete in early 2017, the vessel will begin operating under a 3-year charter that includes 12 additional 1-year options. Statoil (58.7%) operates the development on behalf of its partners Total (38%) and Det norske (3.3%).

Ocean Installer Bags Gina Krog and Eirin Work
Type: Development Activity

Mar. 2013 - Statoil awarded Ocean Installer an engineering, procurement, construction and installation contract relating to subsea installation and tie-in operations at the Gina Krog (former Dagny) and Eiring fields off Norway. Total value of the contract, including options, is roughly $85 million. Work scope includes design, fabrication and subsea installation of a Gas Export Pipeline End Manifold (PLEM), an oil export riser base, tie-in spools and covers along with all remote tie-in operations. Engineering and project management will begin immediately with offshore operations to take place in 2015 and 2016. Both fields are being developed in parallel with production start-up scheduled for 1Q 2017.

Type: Contract Award

Feb. 2013 - Dagny partners Statoil and Total awarded DSME a $1.1 billion contract to build the topsides facilities for the Dagny platform with Aker Solution as a major sub-contractor. DSME's responsibilities will include design, procurement, engineering, construction and commissioning. Aker will assist with detailed engineering, hook-up and commissioning services. Finalization of the award is still subject to approval by Norwegian authorities which is expected in the first half of 2013, however work will begin immediately with installation scheduled to take place in 1Q 2017.

Heerema to Fabricate Record-Setting Dagny Structure
Type: Contract Award

Feb. 2013 - Heerema Fabricaion received a Letter of Award for the engineering, procurement and construction of a fixed jacket and a pre-drilling module for Statoil's Dagny field in the Norwegian North Sea. The 465-foot tall jacket will be largest launch jacket ever built at Heerema's Vlissingen fabrication yard. Construction of the jacket is targeted for November 2013 with delivery taking place in April 2015. Once installed, the pre-drilling module will facilitate the phased development of the field and will eventually be integrated into the topsides cellar deck.

Aker Receives Sleipner A and Dagny Modification Work
Type: Operator Update

Feb. 2013 - Aker Solutions received and engineering, procurement, construction, installation and commissioning contract for the tie-in of Dagny gas production to the Sleipner A platform. This is the second call-off project for Aker under the Sleipner Modification Portfolio Agreement. The new project will involve modifications to both the Sleipner A platform and the Dagny platform. Installation is expected to be completed in 2016.

Dagny PDO Presented to Norwegian MPE
Type: Development Activity

Dec. 2012 - Norway's Ministry of Petroleum and Energy has received the Plan for Development and Operation (PDO) of Statoil's Dagny field in the North Sea. Statoil (operator) and Total are partners in the field with 78.2% and 21.8% stakes respectively. The partners envision a field development concept consisting of a fixed platform that will be tied into the Sleipner facilities for gas export with oil being transported by tankers. Initial platform power will come from a single gas-powered turbine engine until shore based power is available. Plans call for Dagny to come on stream in 1Q 2017 and have a productive life of 20 years. Additionally, the PDO for the Eirin gas field will be submitted in 2013. Eirin is located in close proximity to Dagny and will be developed via a subsea template tied-back to the Dagny platform.

Statoil Secures Rig for Dagny
Type: Operator Update

May. 2012 - Statoil announced that it has awarded a contract to Maersk Drilling for new jack-up to drill the Dagny oil and gas field located on the Norwegian continental shelf in the North Sea. Statoil reported that this conventional or category C jackup is being constructed at KeppelFels in Singapore. Early this year, Statoil and its partners selected a fixed-processing platform concept, which will connect Dagny gas to the Sleipner field, while oil is transported via ship. FEED studies are currently underway to assure the quality of the selected concept prior to a final investment decision, which is expected by the end of 2012 or early 2013. Production from Dagny is expected by the end of 2016. Production drilling will begin summer of 2015 by pre-drilling through the jacket prior to installation of the platform deck the following summer. Pre-drilling will facilitate accelerated production from the Dagny field.

Statoil Green Lights Dagny, Eirin Development
Type: Development Activity

Jan. 2012 - Statoil and partners have selected a fixed platform development concept for the Dagny oil and gas discovery in the Norwegian sector of the North Sea, while the Eirin gas field is to be developed with a subsea solution. Gas from Dagny will be exported through a tie-back to the infrastructure on Sleipner East, while offshore loading into shuttle tankers is proposed for the oil. The seabed production installation on Eirin will be tied-back to the planned Dagny platform. Statoil says the chosen solution for Dagny and Eirin will now be secured, with the award of FEED contracts to occur shortly. Plans call for an investment decision to be taken next year, with production starting in 2016. Dagny is estimated to hold between 20 and 40 million Sm3 of recoverable oil equivalents. The Dagny oil field is located on Blocks 15/5 and 15/6 in the Norwegian North Sea in waters measuring 390 feet (119 meters).

Mixed Results at Statoil's Dagny Prospect
Type: Drilling Operations

Mar. 2011 - Statoil is in the process of completing wildcat well 15/6-11 S and appraisal well 15/6-11 A on the gas/condensate/oil discovery 15/5-1 Dagny. The purpose of the wells was to prove, delineate and test the production properties of the oil zone in Middle Jurassic reservoir rocks (the Hugin formation) between Dagny and Ermintrude. The wildcat well 15/6-11 S, which was drilled to the deepest point of the structure, encountered only non-mobile petroleum in the Hugin formation with varying reservoir quality. Appraisal well 15/6-11 A, which was drilled to a shallower point of the structure, encountered a gas column of 98 feet (30 meters) in the Hugin formation in reservoir rocks with quality corresponding to that of 15/5-11 S. Data was collected and a formation test was conducted. Dagny is estimated to hold between 20 and 40 million Sm3 of recoverable oil equivalents. The licensees are considering various concepts for the Dagny discovery and how the information from the latest wells will affect their choice of concept and schedule, stated Statoil.
