Project Description
The Golden Eagle development straddles Blocks 21/1N and 20/1S in the UK sector of the North Sea. Nexen Petroleum operates the development.

Discovered in 2007, the Golden Eagle discovery well was drilled to a depth of about 7,500 feet (2,286 meters), encountering 123 feet (37 meters) of net pay. A successful sidetrack well was drilled to appraise the accumulation, confirming Golden Eagle is commercially viable. The operator estimates that the area contains between 150 and 275 million boe of gross recoverable contingent resources.

A successful sidetrack well was drilled to appraise the accumulation, confirming Golden Eagle is commercially viable. The operator estimates that the area contains between 150 and 275 million boe of gross recoverable contingent resources.

Hobby

Situated in 361 feet (110 meters) of water in the UK sector of the North Sea is the Hobby discovery, located on Block 20/1N. Nexen serves as the operator of the field, holding a 34% interest. Other partners on the field include: Edinburgh Oil and Gas Limited holds 5%; Maersk Oil North Sea UK Limited holds 36%; and Petro-Canada UK Limited holds the remaining 25% interest.

Drilled by the Transocean Prospect semisub, the Hobby prospect was discovered in February 2009. The well flowed at an average restricted rate of 5,500 bopd through a 56/64-inch choke. Early analysis indicates high-quality crude oil in good-quality reservoir sands.

The field will be developed along side the Golden Eagle project.

Pink

The Pink field, located on Block 20/1S in 95 meters of water, lies in the UK sector of the North Sea. Nexen operates the field with a 43.21%; PetroCanada with 29.89%; BG with 21.73%; and Dyon with 5.16%.

Pink will be jointly developed with Golden Eagle and Hobby.

Field Development

The operator proposes to develop the Golden Eagle Area, consisting of Golden Eagle, Pink and Hobby, with up to 20 wells, installing two subsea drilling/production centers, one pipeline end manifold, installing infield and export pipelines, and installing a platform complex.

The development will include two subsea drilling/production centers and a jack-up drilling rig over a newly installed wellhead platform that will be bridge-linked to a fixed production/utilities/quarters platform.

Oil and gas will be processed at the platform complex with gas exported to the SAGE export line via the Ettrick pipeline end manifold. Oil will be exported either to the Forties pipeline system via a tie-in at the Buzzard field or to Flotta terminal via a tie-in at the Claymore field.

Production is expected to commence in 2014 with rates peaking between 2016 and 2018. The maximum production rate from the development is expected to flow at 70,000 bopd. The proposed development has an expected life span of 25 years.
