Project Description
The Lagavulin prospect straddles Blocks 217/10, 210/14 and 210/15 in a water depth of 5,148 feet (1,569 meters), about 162 miles (260 kilometers) north of the Shetland Isles and approximately 29 miles (47 kilometers) from the median line between UK and the Faroe Islands. Chevron operates the license with a 60% interest; OMV with 20%; Idemitsu 10%; and Faroe with 10%.

The Lagavulin exploration well spudded in October 2010. The well is being drilled with the Stena Carron drillship

The Lagavulin well targeted a number of potential oil-bearing reservoirs of pre-Cretaceous to Paleocene age located within a large, elongated four-way structural closure. Drilled by the Stena Carron drillship, well 217/15-1z reached total depth on June 10, 2011.

Chevron Fails to Hit Pay in Lagavulin
Type: Status Update

Jun. 2011 - Chevron failed to hit pay in its Lagavulin exploratory well in the UK sector of the North Sea. Drilled by the Stena Carron drillship, well 217/15-1z reached total depth on June 10, 2011. A working petroleum system was not confirmed at this location so plugging and abandonement operations will commence. Data was gathered and a detailed analysis is underway to fully evaluate the well results, stated the company. Chevron Spuds Lagavulin Well
Type: Status Update

Nov. 2010 - Exploratory drilling commenced on the Lagavulin well in the UK Atlantic Margin to the west of the Shetland Islands. The Stena Carron drillship spudded the well last month, and the well is targeting a number of potential oil-bearing reservoirs of pre-Cretaceous to Paleocene age located within a large, elongated four-way structural closure. Lagavulin has a reserve potential of more than 500 MMboe, making it one of the largest undrilled structural closures on the Atlantic Margin. The well should take about 120 days to complete. Lagavulin straddles Blocks 217/10, 210/14 and 210/15, which Chevron operates, holding a 60% interest. Partners in the license include OMV (20%), Idemitsu (10%), and Faroe (10%).

Chevron Operated Lagavulin Update
Type: Status Update

Sep. 2006 - This Corona Ridge licence has very substantial prospectivity. The operator Chevron successfully undertook an extensive new state-of-the-art long offset 2D seismic survey in summer 2005, and this new data is intended to be used to identify a drilling location.
