Summary:
The DP and Riser Engineer completes engineering projects based on requests from the rig or department within the company, including work scope definition, conceptual and detailed design and cost estimates, as well as performing engineering check on drawings, writing design calculation report and securing approval from regulatory bodies. Duties would include receiving direction from the Chief Engineer and work closely with Operations and Marketing personnel. Primary responsibility will be to provide full support to the rig operation timely and effectively. He/she will be responsible for gathering and analyzing data, designing through project completion.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Will provide assistance and support to Marketing including reviewing bid document and performing preliminary site specific assessment.
Will provide assistance and support to Operations including performing site layout and site specific assessment and securing location approval.
Will be integrally involved in the design and analysis of motion, mooring, drilling riser and DP systems with a goal of developing a comprehensive understanding of the drilling rig for fleet maintenance and technical and operation support.
Must understand the operations and maintenance of the standard and modern drilling riser systems as well as the riser tensioning systems, direct acting tensioner systems, drill string or crown-mounted compensator systems.
Will be able to perform risk studies including FMEA and FMECA
Will be able to perform power analysis for the maintenance of position and operations. Liaison with regulatory agencies and secure document approval.
Will enhance/develop a detailed working knowledge of applicable standards including ABS, DNV, IMO, ISO, Flag State requirements, API, etc.
Will also interface with shipyard and develop project management skills in engineering, procurement, construction and installation.
Will require limited domestic and international travel.

Education and/or experience
-Minimum BS degree in Naval Architecture, Mechanical or Ocean Engineering
-5+ years experience in naval architecture, DP & Riser Design and Analysis
-Must be familiar with the DP system and associated equipment and instrumentation and riser system
-Good computer skills along with excellent written and verbal communications
-Desire to execute and lead challenging projects
