May. 2012 - Kosmos Energy has completed drilling the Teak-4A appraisal well, located in the West Cape Three Points Block, offshore Ghana. The well, targeting the stratigraphic extension of the Teak discovery area, encountered thin, non-commercial reservoirs and is being plugged and abandoned. Kosmos and partners have begun integrating well results into the Teak field model to determine forward appraisal and development plans. The Atwood Hunter (DW semisub) drilled Teak-4A to a total depth of 9,348 feet (2,850 meters) in a water depth of 1,817 feet (554 meters). Following the completion of operations at the Teak-4A well, the drilling rig will set gauges at the Teak-2A well and perform a drill stem test at the Akasa oil discovery on the West Cape Three Points Block.

Jan. 2012 - Kosmos Energy plans to commence appraisal drilling on the Teak-4 well in first quarter 2012. Teak is located in the West Cape Three Points Block, which Kosmos Energy operates with a 30.875 percent interest. Partners in the license include Anadarko Petroleum (30.875 percent), Tullow Oil (26.396 percent), Sabre Oil & Gas (1.854 percent) and Ghana National Petroleum (10 percent).

Nov. 2011 - The Teak-3A appraisal well has confirmed a northern extension of the Teak discovery on the West Cape Three Points Block offshore Ghana. The well was designed to test the potential structural and stratigraphic extension of reservoirs encountered in the original discovery well. Kosmos Energy said analysis of well results, including wireline logs, reservoir pressures and fluid samples indicate that Teak-3A has encountered about 115 feet (35 meters) of hydrocarbons in multiple reservoirs. The analysis also identified 43 feet (13 meters) of 36 to 39 degree API gravity and 22 meters of gas-condensate pay. The hydrocarbon-bearing reservoirs encountered were Campanian and Turonian in age and similar to those identified in the discovery well. The Transocean Marianas (DW semisub) drilled Teak-3A to a total depth of 10,571 feet (3,222 meters) in 1,457 feet (444 meters) of water. The operator plans to further appraise Teak in the second half of 2012. Teak is located in the West Cape Three Points Block, which Kosmos Energy operates with a 30.875 percent interest. Drilling results are expected by the end of November 2011. The operator will spud the Teak-4 appraisal well in the first quarter of 2012. Mar. 2011 - Kosmos Energy has reported that its Teak-2 exploration well in the West Cape Three Points license offshore Ghana has discovered 89 feet (27 meters) of net hydrocarbon-bearing Campanian and Turonian reservoirs. The well was targeting an undrilled fault block between the Jubilee field and the Teak-1 discovery well, located 1.1 mile (1.8 kilometers) southwest of the Teak discovery well and 2.1 miles (3.5 kilometers) northwest of the Mahogany-2 well. Drilling results confirm that the well has intersected five intervals containing high quality oil, gas and gas-condensate. Twenty feet (Six meters) of net oil and gas pay were encountered at the top of good quality Campanian reservoirs, over 328 feet (100 meters) thick. Tullow states that the Jubilee equivalent Turonian reservoirs contain 69 feet (21 meters) of net hydrocarbon pay, 52 feet (16 meters) of which is gas. Additionally, static pressure data suggests that this potentially forms a gas cap to the Jubilee oil field. Further analyses and pressure interference testing will determine hydrocarbon contacts and the extent of these two adjoining fields. The well was drilled by the Atwood Hunter semisub to a depth of 11,184 feet (3,409 meters) in a water depth of 2,904 feet (885 meters). Suspension operations will ensue, and then the rig will move to drill the Banda-1 well. Kosmos Energy operates the license, holding a 30.875% interest. Feb. 2011 - Kosmos Energy has reported that its Teak-1 exploratory well in the West Cape Three Points license offshore Ghana has discovered about 240 feet (73 meters) of net pay in two Campanian and three Turonian-aged reservoirs. In the shallower Campanian-aged reservoirs, the well intersected 20 feet (6 meters) of oil pay in the upper zone and 108 feet (33 meters) of gas pay with an underlying 49 feet (15 meter), 40 degree API oil leg, in the lower zone. In the deeper stratigraphic Turonian-aged reservoirs, the well intersected 46 feet (14 meters) of gas-condensate pay in two separate zones and 16 feet (5 meters) of 32 degree API oil pay in a deeper level. Tullow states that the up-dip combination structural and stratigraphic Campanian trap is potentially 12,355 acres (50 square kilometers) in area and will be further appraised. The potential extent of each of the deeper Turonian zones is being analyzed. Drilled by the Atwood Hunter semisub, the well reached a total depth of 10,400 feet (3,170 meters) in a water depth of 2,848 feet (868 meters). Once operations are completed, the well will be suspended for future use, and the rig will move to drill the Teak-2 well to target the Campanian and Turonian aged reservoirs in a separate fault block between the Teak discovery and the Jubilee field. Kosmos Energy operates the license with a 30.875% interest.
