Nov. 2012 - A decision has been made to suspend exploration drilling at Statoil's Brugdan II well in License 006 off the Faroe Islands. Well 6104/21-2 is the second well drilled in the 223 square mile-license and the 8-well campaign overall drilled in Faroese waters since 2001. The decision was made based on the usual bad weather that is encountered in the area during winter. Faroese authorities have authorized the suspension until the end of 2013. The well is being drilled in 1,476 feet of water by the COSL Pioneer (mid-water semisub).

Jun. 2012 - Statoil has commenced exploratory drilling at its Brugdan prospect in License 006, Block 6104/21, in the Faroe Islands. The operator is using the COSLPioneer (mid-water semisub) to drill the well. Statoil expects drilling operations to take four to five months.

Mar. 2011 - Statoil and ExxonMobil will jointly explore three Faroese offshore licenses. ExxonMobil Exploration & Production Faroe Islands Limited will acquire a 50% interest in Licenses 009 and 011 and a 49% interest in License 006, where Atlantic Petroleum is a minority owner with a 1% interest. Statoil Faroes AS will continue to operate all three licenses and retain a 50% interest. The Ministry of Industry and Trade in the Faroes has approved the transfer of interest to ExxonMobil, which marks the company's first entry into the Faroes. The partnership plans to drill an exploratory well in the second half of 2011.
