Position Summary:
Project Engineer with a strong background in process and subsea controls to be part of a global subsea developments team which duties include directing, managing, and advising on the engineering and installation of subsea projects in the Gulf of Mexico region as well as international locations.
Roles/Responsibilities:
*Demonstrate HSE leadership in technical integrity, environmental impact and site safety and participate in corporate HSE programs.
*Become a active members of the Global Subsea Developments Team as a project engineer with a strong controls engineering background
*Provide project engineering/management support of subsea projects including estimating, budgeting, scheduling, reporting, and resource management.
*Direct and manage the engineering, tendering, fabrication, and installation of subsea controls systems and associated subsea equipment including but not limited to Subsea Master Control Systems
oSubsea Control Modules
oHydraulic Power Units
oChemical Injection Systems
oUmbilicals and Topsides and Subsea Umbilical Termination/Distribution Units
oElectrical and Hydraulic Flying Leads Subsea Manifolds and Flowline Tie in Equipment
oSubsea Oil and Gas Wells/TreesManaging control system related interfaces between internal groups such as production operations, topsides and/or subsea development teams, as well as contractors and vendors to insure operability and proper integration of overall system.
*Provide input and support to develop standards and specifications to promote consistency and synergies across current and future projects.
*Provide design and operating input based on past experience and current state of the practice methods. Maintain a comprehensive knowledge of the state of the practice through conferences and conference proceedings, technical societies, and a personal network
Skills/Competencies/Qualifications:
*The Subsea engineer should have a breadth of experience in engineering, contracting and construction, and commissioning and startup of controls systems; this experience would allow the engineer to work independently to complete small projects and studies, with only minor management oversight
*This person should be capable of leading a project team under supervision of a project director, to manage an integrated team of engineering and construction contractors
*Strong interpersonal, influencing and stakeholder management skills, with effective oral and written communication to both internal and external audiences.
*Possess and exercise experience working in an international environment with a multi-cultural staff and contractors/suppliers
*Strong background and understanding of control system architectural design along with knowledge of industry standards and recommended practices.
*Results oriented approach to project work
*Analytical problem solver with ability to mentor co-workers.
*Ability to proactively take initiative and deliver continuous improvement
*Ability to collaborate across team and other groups and influence others
Experience:
*Offshore engineering experience with heavy emphasis on upstream process and/or subsea control systems, automation, and instrumentation.
*Working knowledge of upstream oil and gas production and process including subsea systems.
*Experience of working with a design and engineering contractors and system integrators.
*Experience of preparing and monitoring equipment specifications
*Experienced in critical path scheduling, cost control and construction management
Education/Training:
*Bachelor's degree in an Engineering discipline is required; preferably in Mechanical, Electrical, or Controls Engineering
