Project Description
The Aphrodite gas field is located in the Mediterranean Sea off the coast of Cyprus in Block 12. Noble Energy operates the discovery with a 70 percent working interest; while Delek Drilling and Avner Oil Exploration each hold 15 percent stakes.

Drilled by the Noble Homer Ferrington (DW semisub), the Cyprus A-1 well encountered about 310 feet (94 meters) of net natural gas pay in multiple high-quality Miocene sand intervals. The well reached a depth of 19,225 feet (5,860 meters) in a water depth of 5,540 feet (1,689 meters).

Results from drilling, formation logs and initial evaluation work indicate an estimated gross resource range of 5 to 8 Tcf, with a gross mean of 7 Tcf.

Noble plans to appraise the find.

Delek Group Reports Successful Production Test at Aphrodite-2
Type: Appraisal Operations

Oct. 2013 - Noble Energy, operator of Block 12 in the Cyprus Exclusive Economic Zone, carried out a successful production test at the Aphrodite-2 appraisal well. The test was performed onboard the Ensco 5006 (DW semisub) for a duration of 5 days. Delek Group, a junior partner in the well, reported an average flow rate of 32.7 MMscfd with an initial reservoir pressure of 8,961 psi. No appreciable decline in pressure was observed. Well test results were constrained by the testing equipment. Once the well is secured the rig will sail back to Israeli waters to drill the South West Tamar exploration well in the Eran/353 license.

Aphrodite Partners Prepare for Appraisal Well
Type: Operator Update

May. 2013 - The partners in Block 12 offshore Cyprus have announced the decision to drill the Aphrodite #2 appraisal well. The appraisal is part of a work program approved by the Cyprus government under the production sharing contract. Aphrodite #2 will be drilled by the Ensco 5006 (DW semisub) in 5,741 feet of water. Drilling is expected to commence in early June and last approximately 4 months. Noble Energy operates the discovery and maintains a 70% interest. Delek and Avner each serve as joint venture partners with 15% interest each.

Noble Finds Gas Pay in Cyprus
Type: New Discovery

Dec. 2011 - Noble Energy has made a natural gas discovery at the Cyprus Block 12 prospect, offshore the Republic of Cyprus. The Cyprus A-1 well encountered about 310 feet (94 meters) of net natural gas pay in multiple high-quality Miocene sand intervals. Noble Energy operates the discovery with a 70 percent working interest; while Delek Drilling and Avner Oil Exploration each hold 15 percent.
