Composite Laminator (GRP) / Boat Builder -Dorset - Permanent - Day & Night Shifts
£25,230pa - £33,430pa (Day Shift) OR £33,550pa - £41,120pa (Night Shift) - Including Benefits

Navis Consulting currently has a requirement for an experienced Composite Laminator (GRP) / Boat Builder to join a leading south coast based Manufacturing business in the Marine Industry.

The Core function of the Composite Laminator (GRP) / Boat Builder will be to play a pivotal role in the production of luxury motor yachts. You will be an experienced Laminator within Marine Composites or a similar Industry. The Composite Laminator (GRP) / Boat Builder will be working on various projects ranging from 48ft to 155ft.

The Composite Laminator (GRP) / Boat Builder will work on the production of wet lay-up and infused GRP Components such as; Hulls, Decks and Superstructures.
tasks include:
Reading technical specifications for mat, resin and gel types.
Preparing moulds (cleaning, repairing and usage of release agents)
Assessing environmental conditions, Selecting, measuring, mixing and applying gel coat by hand. Applying skin coats, core and secondary bonding by hand, and also, the occasional use of resin spray guns.
Trimming GRP and the inspection of own GRP components for quality forms part of the role, as does housekeeping and maintenance of working areas.
This is a team based labour intensive position.

Candidates should be confident in producing quality GRP mouldings and will be required to sit a practical moulding trade test at Interview stage.

$2022; Able to work in restricted spaces and on the water if required
$2022; Experience within the composites industry, specifically glass fibre wet layup with polyester gel and resins
$2022; Able to read technical information relating to laminating
$2022; Able to work with polyester resins
$2022; Keen to work in a fast paced construction environment

On the job coaching will be provided to those unfamiliar with the marine manufacturing sector.
